STAFF REPORT ISB: As many as 300 students of Bachelor, Masters and PhD got degrees at the 36th convocation of National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences of Islamabad (FAST-NUCES) recently held in the city.

Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), awarded the degrees to the successful candidates.

Gold, silver and bronze medals were also awarded to the top three position holders.

On the occasion, the HEC Chairperson said, “it is quite encouraging to see institutes like FAST shifting the research paradigm to meet the current collaborative demands of both academia and industry.”

He also said that in the past, most of the research in Pakistan was conducted for the sake of research only since there was no research culture at that time.

Education entails training of students in a desired direction and HEC of Pakistan has always encouraged and supported institutions to educate the future of Pakistan according to the current international standards, he remarked.

“Character-building and personality-development of the youth should be the foremost goal of education,” said Rector, Dr. Amir Muhammed.

Dr Arshad Ali Shahid, Director Islamabad Campus, in his welcome address informed that Islamabad Campus of FAST-NUCES started Eighteen years ago, and in a short span of time it has become one of the most vibrant, effective, and rewarding seats of higher learning in the country.
