ISLAMABAD : Vice Chancellor LUMHS Professor Noshad A Shaikh and Professor Dr G Raza Bhatti, Member HEC distributed Laptops, received from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan under the “Prime Minister’s National Program for provision of Laptops to the postgraduate students.


Addressing the laptop distribution ceremony to 41 postgraduate students, the Vice Chancellor expressed that advances in medicine in recent decades are in significant correlation with the advances in the information technology. Modern information technologies have enabled faster, more reliable and comprehensive data collection, he said.


He added that broad and consistent utilisation of this Technology will improve health care quality or effectiveness, increase health care productivity or efficiency, prevent medical errors and increase health care accuracy. He further said that procedural correctness reduce health care costs, increase administrative efficiency and healthcare work processes, decrease paperwork and unproductive or idle work time, extend real-time communications of health informatics among health care professionals, and expand access to affordable care.


While appreciating the initiative of Government to provide Laptops to the Students he said it will help the students to enhance their knowledge.


Professor Dr G Raza Bhatti while addressing the ceremony said that education means, learning, teaching, or the process of acquiring skills or behaviour modification through various exercises. The Information Technologies have the capacity, more than any other medium, to facilitate student learning and problem solving, in addition to many other benefits, he added.


He said the health information technology is in general increasingly viewed as the most promising tool for improving the overall quality, safety and efficiency of the health delivery system.


He informed that Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Program is aimed at spreading the use of computers amongst the college/university level students to bring about a technology revolution and bridge the digital divide.
