6 Pak students attend Nobel laureates meet

STAFF REPORT IBD: A total of six Pakistani students have participated in the 63rd Lindau Nobel laureates meeting recently held at Lindau, a city of Germany, with the support of HEC. About 34 laureates and over 600 young scientists from 80 countries took part in the meeting.


The HEC is sponsoring the talented students and young scholars of Pakistan for participation in the meeting for the last 10 years. About 80 students of Pakistan have so far benefited from these meetings.


In her opening remarks, Council President Countess Bettina Bernadotte, who had inaugurated the meeting, emphasised intercultural dialogue among elite scientists of different generations. The discussions were focused on chemistrys application in areas such as power supply, pharmaceutical research and sustainable resources.


“The meeting would be quite helpful in building bridges between the generations and provides young scientists with experience, inspiration and motivation,” said Countess Bernadotte.


Commenting on participation of the young Pakistani scholars at this international platform, HEC Chairperson Dr Javaid R Laghari said that participation of our scholars in the global activities is vital for creating image of Pakistan as a progressive and tolerant society.


“Keeping in view significance of these interactions, the HEC would continue to support such useful endeavours in future as well,” he added.
