STAFF REPORT ISB: Not a single engineering university of Pakistan ranks among the top 100 universities of the world; however, efforts are underway to get full membership of “Washington Accord” for international qualification, after which engineering degree would be recognised world-wide.


This was revealed by Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Abdul Qadir Shah while briefing the NA Committee on SandT.


“Only one university of the country – NUST – is among the top 100 universities of the world, however, no university of the country was in the category of top 100 universities of the world,” revealed Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Abdul Qadir while briefing the NA Standing Committee on SandT.


He said the country got the associate membership of “Washington Accord” which is big achievement as countries like China are still struggling to get it. However, the ministry has given a target of getting full membership by December 2015.


PEC has devised a comprehensive mechanism for accreditation of engineering education to ensure quality of engineering education according to the national and international criteria and benchmark.
