STAFF REPORT ISB: UNESCO and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) will join hand to strengthen science labs of rural area schools.


It was decided at a meeting between PSF Dr. Ashraf and Vibeke Jenson, Director UNESCO Pakistan, here on Tuesday.


UNESCO and PSF have a longstanding collaboration to promote science culture in the country.


During their meeting, it was decided that UNESCO will provide science kits for rural area schools to strengthen their laboratories. These kits will be distributed to schools through PSF.


Both the sides also reviewed the ongoing collaborative initiatives such as Man and Biosphere (MAB) programme and celebrations of World Science Day etc. The future collaborative programmes that came under discussion included strengthening of labs in schools of rural areas, joint funding for RandD research projects and efforts for declaration of new biosphere reserves in the country.
