STAFF REPORT ISB: Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan has said that the government would start skill training programmes for rural youth to bring them in agriculture mainstream. The programmes would be started for imparting them different training for using the modern innovative tools of cultivation to enhance agri-productivity for economic betterment of rural masses.


Addressing the Pakistan Agriculture Conference and Exhibition organized by KMK Global Limited in collaboration with PARC and USAID, the minister said that agriculture sector of country was facing different challenges including high rate of inputs and lower rate of outputs which was exploiting the farmers in the country.


He said that government was focusing to minimize the input cost of agriculture inputs in the country as well as developing the adequate infrastructure to promote market access for growers for the development of agri sector.


The government, he said, was also committed to create conducive environment for the promotion of agri-sector by concentrating on crop enhancement, livestock, fisheries and dairy sectors development by creating linkages with industrial sector, he added.


He said that the agro-based industry would be setup to safeguard the small scale growers who were facing different challenges including market access and was the big victim of middle man in the country.
