Staff Report ISB: Chairman of Presidium of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), Acad. Vladimir G. Gusakov, visited the Pakistan Academy of Sciences in Islamabad. He was invited by President of Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS), Dr. Anwar Nasim.


The Belarus Chief offered support in high tech areas like drone technology, space technology, nuclear energy, agricultural equipments and other areas of mutual interest. The meetingwas held at PAS Headquarters which was chaired jointly by chiefs of Science Academies of both the countries and was participated by all the stakeholders in science and technology, including organization heads and senior scientists of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Institute of Space Technology (IST), Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), National Agricultural Research Center (NARC), and Word Wide Fund (WWF), and Fellows of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.


The Secretary General of PAS, Prof. Zabta K. Shinwari, apprised the participants about the background and purpose of the visit of the Chief of NASB. Discussing and elaborating on the possible areas of mutual cooperation, the Chiefs of both the Academies expressed keen interest and enthusiasm for mutual cooperation in a wide range of SandT areas.


The chiefs of both the Academies of Sciences are going to sign a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week in Islamabad in the presence of the visiting President of The Republic of Belarus and the President of Pakistan.


Prof. Zabta K. Shinwari, and Executive Director of Higher Education Commission, Prof Mansoor Akbar Kundi had earlier visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus at Belarusian capital, Minsk. During the visit, both the Academies signed Letter of Intentions to work together for the promotion of SandT and higher education.
