STAFF REPORT ISB: An International Philippine Halal Assembly (IPHA) event was organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Philippine at Marriot Hotel, Manila. It was a 3 day event that highlighted the rising potentials of Halal sector both food and non-food items and its bulging demand in international market.


Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Bhanger from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi was also invited in the event. He gave presentation on “Application of nanotechnology and its impact on Halal Economy.”


He underscored the potential of nanotechnologies and said that the canvas of research in this field is widening at fast pace to account for numerous challenges that humans face such as health care, food safety, energy supply etc. It has wide array of applications ranging from cosmetic products including moisturizers, make-up and sunscreen, hair care products, new and safe packaging material delivery to DNA sequencing identification in processed food.


Participants from around the world including scientists, researchers, technologists, business community, industry, and civil society turned out in large number in the event.
