STAFF REPORT ISB: Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) organized series of workshops on Policies for creating Enabling environment for encouraging problem-solving research in collaboration with Institute of Research Promotion (IRP). The theme of workshop is to encourage RandD that is aimed for problem solving of industry as well society.


The 8th workshop of the series was held in cooperation with Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) in which the policy proposals and recommendations on various aspects of the issue were discussed which could be presented to government for policy making.


The workshop was divided into inaugural and technical sessions. Prof Dr Anwar ul Hassan Gillani , Chairman PCST shared his views in the workshop and said that problem solving research promotion must be necessitated through policy reforms in order to bring research at par to the needs of industry.


The speakers emphasized on the academia-industry linkage in the technical session and said it was vital to bridge the gap between both entities in order to attain desired results.


Kamran A. Qureshi, Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) was also present on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of PCST for taking such initiative to highlight important issue.


As many as 80 participants from academia, RandD orgs, and industry attended the workshop.
