STAFF REPORT ISB: Climate change impacts multiple sectors and rings bells of
peril to human health as well. The identification of climate change related impacts
on human health and their mitigation requires stringent policies at state level to
assure health security.
A seminar focusing on emphatic connection between Natural disasters and health
challenges was held recently. The discussion made in seminar focused on the
plight of health conditions of people in disaster hit areas and urged government and
relevant authorities to drastically improve the safety measures in order to minimize
its impacts on human health and restrain several associated diseases to spread.
Federal Minister for National Health Services, Saira Afzal Tarar was present on the
occasion. She said while speaking to participants, “The climate change
phenomenon has impacted on diverse range of areas including health and
government is taking all possible measures to cope with the challenges and still
there is a huge room for improvement and a lot of things are yet to be done”.
A report was also released on the occasion by The Rockefeller Foundation-Lancet
Commission on Planetary Health that stresses on global action to prevent the
health of human civilization and the natural systems.
