STAFF REPORT KHI: The three-day 36th Pakistan Congress of Zoology has resolved that all the participants of the congress should act as ambassadors of peace, love and spirit of scientific co-operation.


The event has recently been concluded at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro.


The concluding ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr Muhammad Siddiqui Kalhoro, Acting Vice Chancellor University of Sindh. Two very eminent Chinese professors Dr Peng Xu and Dr. Wenjun Bu and two young researchers Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Pir and DrImtiaz Ahmed Tali of Jamu and Kashmir also attended the congress as foreigner guest speakers.


Prof. Dr Abdul Rauf Shakoori informed that 12 plenary lectures and 124 oral presentations were made during the congress. It was resolved in the concluding session that the Zoological society of Pakistan will continue to provide a platform to all zoologists of the country where they will continue having opportunity to interact with foreign scientists, Pakistani senior scientists and post-graduate students of different universities and research institutes.


The scientists from China offered to provide technical help and guidance to students and researches of University of Sindh in their scientific endeavours.


Prof. Dr Siddique Kalhoro encouraged the faculty and students of the department of Zoology to take advantage of the offer of the Chinese researchers. He emphasised the importance of such international collaboration in development of science in the region.
