STAFF REPORT ISB: As many as 909 students across Pakistan have been given scholarships amounting to approximately Rs 1.1 billion to pursue four-year ICT degree programmes in the top universities of under the PMs ICT Scholarship Programme.


While an amount of Rs 54.72 million has been provided to 866 final year projects of undergraduate ICT students of public and private sector universities since 2013 under National Grassroots ICT Research Initiative of the IT Ministry.


The Ministry has also partnered with Microsoft to establish computer laboratories in Bait-ul-Mal women empowerment centres for girls across Pakistan where computer skills will be taught.


Under the Internship programme for the IT graduates through ICT Research and Development Fund and PSEB, 800 IT graduates and final year students have been placed as interns at several IT companies during the year 2013-15


Another similar internship programme is being launched for 3,000 ICT graduates shortly. National ICT Research and Development Fund of the ministry will fund internship cost of Rs 15,000 per month for placement with IT companies and organisations for a period of six months.
