STAFF REPORT ISB: As many as 17 talented Pakistanis received Gold Medal Awards 2016 at a ceremony recently held for their outstanding achievements in different fields of life.


The awards were conferred by eminent nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan in different areas including ideology of Pakistan, science and technology, sports, education, social welfare, literature, art and craft and medical.


The ceremony was arranged at Aiwan-e-Quaid, Fatima Jinnah Park by Nazariya Pakistan Council. The Quaid-e-Azam Award was conferred on Dr Anwar Naseem, Bashir Malik and Raz Luni while Allama Iqbal Award was given to Naveed Hashmi, Nasim-i-Seher and Waqar Ahmed.


Sir Syed Award was conferred on Mehreen Iqbal and Prof. Dr Syed Hamid Hussain while Madar-i-Millat Award was given to Gulalai Ismaeel and Noor Fatima.


Shaheen Award was conferred on Maheen Aftab, Sadia Gul, Naveed Butt and Sheeba Asad while Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Award was given to Dr Masud Ghani, Zaeem Siddique and Sania Syedain. Similarly, NAVTTC Executive Director Zulfiqar Cheema has been decorated with Sitara-i-Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of public service.


While addressing on the occasion, Dr Qadeer said that there is a need to focus on education sector to bring prosperity in the country. He called for strict legislation to end corruption, unemployment and other crisis to make the country a welfare state.
