STAFF REPORT KHI: Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Prof. Dr Aslam Uqaili has said that modern scientific application is being developed on the latest research-based knowledge in order to benefit the community at large for socio-economic development of the common people.


He said this while addressing at the concluding ceremony of the recently held three-day training workshop on “Geo-informatics” at US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) of Mehran University Jamshoro.


Dr. Uqaili said that role of the universities in the modern world has widened, educational institutes not only imparting education and award degrees but working for research and development.


He said it is need of the time for academia to uplift the society at large. The Vice Chancellor said that USPCAS-W is national level centre and with performance of its management it will be recognised across the globe.


On this occasion, Project Director Prof. Dr. Bakhshal Khan Lashari said that through the guided vision of the Vice Chancellor MUET, this centre is moving to the right direction.


With the technical support of University of Utah, this centre is striving best for achieving the goals and targets. The certificates were distributed among twenty participants who came from different parts of the province to participate in the three-day training workshop supported by USEFP.


Training focal person of the event Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal said that aim of the workshop was to build the capacity of the faculty and students of the related fields.
