Staff Report IBD: The Sindh government plans to set up an Agriculture Demonstration Zone at Tandojam with an aim to introducing local farmers with new agriculture techniques.
“The introduction of new system, in collaboration with China, would result in improvement of their current cultivation pattern and marketing system of their produce,” an official of the Planning Commission said.
The official said that the Sindh government has submitted programme component-II of the project seeking approval of feasibility study on the proposed project. The Sindh government has also signed a memorandum of understating with the Yagling Agriculture Demonstration Zone, Yangling, China, for the establishment of the proposed zone.
“We have carved out a strategy for the agriculture sector aiming to ensure food security, providing economic returns to growers and reducing poverty in rural areas,” he said.
According to the document submitted by the Sindh government, an area of around 13,675 acres has been identified. In addition to it, eight theme parks would also be established.
Under the plan, a modern agriculture innovation park measuring 131.78 acres would be set up for exhibiting latest technology and new systems related to agriculture.
