STAFF REPORT IBD: Dr. Hamadoun I. Toure, Secretary General ITU, while appreciating the tremendous telecom growth of Pakistan has commended the role of PTA in creating sound regulatory regime in Pakistan by protecting customers as well as investors interest and providing a level playing field.
He expressed these remarks at a reception hosted in his honour by the PTA during his visit to the Authoritys head office here last week.
On the occasion, Dr. Toure planted a tree on the premises.
The reception was attended by CEOs of telecom operators, Members of the Authority and senior PTA officials.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, PTA Chairman Dr. Mohammed Yaseen apprised the Secretary General ITU about the achievements and progress made by Pakistan in telecom sector particularly cellular mobile segment during last few years. He also talked about market potential of Pakistan for wireless technologies particularly broadband services and shared his vision about the future development of telecom sector in the country. The PTA Chairman also presented PTA plaque to the visiting dignitary.
