Mutual cooperation between Pakistan and other countries in field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is imperative for betterment of mankind, and enhancing


peace and prosperity among nations.


Minister of State for Information Technology, Mrs Anusha Rehman, who is heading a Pakistani delegation in Busan, Korea, said this while addressing an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference, 2014.


Apart from attending the conference, Anusha Rehman also held bilateral meetings with ministers and head of delegations of various countries and organizations, which included Saudi Minister of Communications and IT, Mohamed Jamil Ahmed Mulla, Algerian Minister of Post and Information, Zohra Derdouri, Minister – Responsible for Telecom of Barbados, Darcy Boyce, Vice Minister for Telecom of Costa Rica, Allan Ruiz, UAEs Director General, Telecom Regulatory Authority, Mohamed Al-Ghanim, Ambassador, Department of State, USA, Daniel Sepulveda, Chairman of Federal Communication Commission (FCC), USA, Thomas Wheeler and Secretary of State, Ministry of Administration And Digitisation of Poland, Ms. Malgorzata Olszewska.


During the meetings, Anusha Rehman presented snapshot of development of ICTs in Pakistan and expressed her intention for mutual cooperation between Pakistan and other countries.She highlighted vision of accelerated digitization, the initiative for accelerated setup of technology parks, research and innovation centers, and local manufacturing units.The Minister briefed about possible areas of cooperation with other countries.


Her presence in Korea was acclaimed by fellow ministers and telecom sector delegates attending the conference and appreciated her plans that are being rolled out to take socio- economic benefits of increased broadband connectivity to Pakistani people.
