STAFF REPORT IBD: The recently held two-day Principal Investigators Convention under the “Pak-US National Sciences Linkage Programme (NSLP)” focused on exchange of ideas regarding effective execution and pooling of national assets in addition to updating itself on the status of projects.
PSF Chairman Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro, who is also the Chief Executive of NSLP, Ministry of Food Security and Research Representative Dr. Aslam Gill, Agriculture Consular of US Embassy Richard Dremnon, PSF Member Science Dr. Khalil Ibupoto and NSLP Principal Scientific Officer (PSO) Dr. Mirza Habib were present at the convention.
In his address on the occasion, the PSF Chairman said that the researchers working under NSLP programme should take on board the farmers so that the end user of their research could properly benefit from it.
Dr. Soomro announced that they are working on awards for the scientists of NSLP funded projects every year on the pattern of PSFs Dr. ZA Hashmi RandD Gold Medal Award to acknowledge contributions of the eminent scientists.
Richard Dremnon appreciated the process of NSLP projects funding, monitoring and evaluation. He called upon the scientists to take up such projects that may result in food production increase ensuring availability of food to everyone.
Dr. Mirza Habib said that the Ministry of Science and Technology and the USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) signed an MoU in November last for cooperation in the field of Natural Sciences.
