STAFF REPORT IBD: The Centre for Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries, commonly known as CBI, has recently announced further plans to intensify its engagement in Pakistan.
The CBI works as an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and has over 40-year experience in supporting the producers and exporters from developing countries to get a foot hold in the EU.
In April, 2012 CBIs newly appointed Country Manager Don van Luijn had visited Pakistan and held talks with TDAP, SMEDA, ASF and PHDEC including members from the business community. During his meetings, Luijn had pointed out the huge untapped potential for products in home decoration and home textiles as well as the agriculture and food processing sectors for exports to the EU. CBIs two new Export Coaching Programmes (ECP) have also been made available to assist companies in obtaining a firm and lasting position on the EU markets for Home Decoration/Textile products and Sustainable Food Ingredients.
CBI is currently allowing companies to apply for these programs which are set to begin in May and June, respectively.
