STAFF REPORT ISB: A three-day International Symposium on Light and Life was held at Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT). This event was sorted out to commend the UN International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, and in addition to highlight the most recent exploration and advancements in this field happening across the world.


Talking on the event, Prof. Dr. Aslam Baig (UNESCOs assigned Focal Person for exercises identified with International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies in Pakistan) gave a noteworthy outline of the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, which was more liberally financed by United Nations than some other global year.


Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, Executive Director COMSATS, notified the group of onlookers of COMSATS Secretariats as of late formalized working courses of action with the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, through marking of a Memorandum of Understanding, and consequent talks that prompted the holding of the present symposium.


He highlighted a connection between financial development, mechanical advances, and political and social support, for the advantages of SandT to achieve the sustainable development goals. Underscoring the significance of the topic of the occasion, Dr. Qureshi noticed its applications in various fields including defense. He further included that the advances that appeared to be outlandish a couple of years back are transforming into reality because of advances in light-based technology.
