Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Wah Campus, organizes national level IT competition every year. VisioSpark 2015 was the 13th episode of competitions held at CIIT Wah. There were 7 different competitions including Quiz competition, On Spot Programming competition, Software Project competition, E-Gaming competition, Mobile App Development competition, Poster Designing competition and IT Mushaira competition. More than 352 students from 23 different universities across the country participated in the event.


The opening ceremony was held at the Auditorium of CIIT Wah in the presence of Director of CIIT Wah, Prof. Dr. Tayyab Akram and Head of Department of Computer Science Department along with distinguished guests. In the opening remarks, Director CIIT Wah Campus Prof Dr Tayyeb Akram highlighted objectives of the mega event and concerted efforts of the institute in imparting quality education to the younger generation, keeping in view the needs of the contemporary world.


Knowledge of core subjects of Computer Science field was tested in Quiz competition. 57 students forming more than 20 teams appeared in this competition. It was a whole day work for the teams to prove their ability in the core subjects. The final round was held between CIIT Abbottabad and Dr.A.Q.Khan, where Dr.A.Q.Khan secured 1st position. A panel of judges includes Dr. Khalid Hussain from HITEC and Dr. Muhammad Khalil Afzal from CIIT Wah.


More than 30 teams participated in on-spot programming competition and the 1st position was secured by team CIIT Wah after a long tiring day. Results were evaluated by Javed Rehman CEO of Today Time Sheet.


IT has been playing a vital role in helping the environment and society. Dr. Saad Rehman from NUST, Dr. Aun Irtaza from UET Taxila and Mr. Gohar Sharif from Tera Data were the judges of this competition. 30 projects were shown up by the students in software contest, but judges chosen project Lone Warrior 3D game from City University Peshawar as the winner. The runner-up project was from NUMAL.


Gaming is not just fun but also a passion. High level of strategy and focus is required in the gaming session. 21 teams including 97 participants participated in two different games. Games included were MOHA and Counter Strike. The student team from CIIT Vehari won MOHA and KICSIT, Islamabad secured 1st position in Counter Strike.


Apart from these mobile app development contest, poster competition and IT mushaira competition was also held which proved to be a fascination for the participants.


In the Closing ceremony, Chief Guest of the event was Prof Dr Anwar-ul-Haq Gillani, Chairperson Pakistan Council of Science and Technology (PCST). Shield certificates and prize money was distributed among the winners and runners-up, by Chief Guest and the Director of CIIT Wah along with a distinguished guest.
