THE CONSUMPTION of natural gas for non-industrial purposes is fairly high in Pakistan. Transport and household consumers do not make any positive impact on GDP, however, put a heavy burden on natural gas reserve. If you see the pattern of natural gas consumption in developed countries, you would find that more gas is being consumed in industries.

Industries like fertilizers, power plants and refineries require a sufficient amount of gas. These industries are facing acute shortage of gas which is resulting closure of many of them hence, putting an extra load of import on our economy.

Since CNG is cheapest, therefore, domestic electricity should be 100 per cent generated using CNG in Pakistan.
