COMSATS inducts KazNU as its 20th Center of Excellence

Monitoring Desk: A meeting to induct Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), Kazakhstan, to the network of COMSATS was held recently in Srilanka. KazNu has become the 20th member of COMSATS Network Almost having 98 departments, 14 faculties, 20 scientific research institutions, a techno-park, and over 2,000 professors and faculty members.

Speaking to the inaugural session of the event, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Higher Education and Research (MOHER), Sri Lanka hoped that the governments of the developing countries will identify their respective competitive advantages and make best utilization of the latest advancements in SandT for increasing their research productivity and high-technology exports.

The decision to induct KazNU to the network was taken by the elite Coordinating Council of COMSATS at its 18th annual international meeting held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Dr. Imtinan Qureshi, Executive Director COMSATS said while speaking at the occasion, “In spite of recognized statistics showing direct correlation between SandT capacity and economic performance, it continues to be a challenge for most of the developing countries to create credible RandD infrastructures that can lead to help in building industrial competitiveness in world markets.”
