STAFF REPORT LHR: Dr Muhammad Hayat Jaspal of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) has recently completed his PhD in Meat Science and Technology from University of Bristol, UK, and resumed his duties as Assistant Professor in the Department of Meat Science and Technology.


Dr Jaspal is the first PhD in Pakistan in the discipline of Meat Science and Technology, says a press release issued here. In the UK, he was awarded a gold medal and cash prize by the British Poultry Council for his outstanding Masters research in poultrys further processing and value addition. The British Food Minister in the House of Commons London gave away this award to him.


Dr Jaspal has also an honour to win the prestigious British Society of Animal Science President award for the year 2011-12 for his best presentation at the societys annual conference. His PhD research is about beef processing, value addition and using packaging technologies for extending shelf life.
