STAFF REPORT ISB: Eminent scientist and Nobel Laureate Professor Abdus Salam has been paid tribute for his memorable contributions for the development of science and technology in the country.


A large gathering of scientists attended the commemorative ceremony held at Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH).


Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad, NI, HI, SI, former chairman PAEC, highlighted the contributions of Dr. Salam for the development of science and technology in Pakistan and PAEC in particular. He said that Dr. Salam was a true national hero.


He shared that the regular holding of International Nathiagali Summer College on physics and its contemporary needs by PAEC, is the fulfilment of Salams dream as he was very much interested about the scientific interaction of Pakistani young scientists and international science faculty in such a forum.


Muhammad Naeem, HI, SI, Chairman PAEC, highlighted the relevance of holding the Dr. Abdus Salam day seminar at PINSTECH. He pointed out that the site for Pakistans first nuclear reactor and nuclear institute, PINSTECH was selected at Nilore, near Islamabad, by Prof Dr.Abdus Salam and Dr. I. H. Usmani, former chairman PAEC.


The seminar was also addressed by Dr. Abdullah Sadiq who said that Dr. Abdus Salam was not only a great scientist but was a patriotic Pakistani.


We should remember his contributions for the country,” he said.
