STAFF REPORT ISB: Highlighting the rising significance of science and technology in blogs development, social media and national development, experts at a seminar stressed upon the youth to focus on entrepreneurial approach and innovations as it would not only enhance capacity building but also saves time as well as makes them easier to reach out to target audience along with products.

The seminar titled “Science and technology and blogs development” has recently been organized by the Technology Times and Tech TV in collaboration with the Abasyn University on the premises of the university in Islamabad.

Speakers included Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Dr Ismael Shah; Sayyed Paras Ali, Editor Weekly Technology Times, CEO Tech TV; Shahbaz Bhatti, News Editor at daily The Nation newspaper; Salman Mazhar, Head of Marketing Wateen Telecom; Babar Zahoo, International Technical Support Officer ICT, Asia Region Oxfam Novib; and Shoaib Awan, Director Business Development, The Mobile Advantage Company. A large number of university students and faculty members attended the event.

PTA Chairman Dr Ismael shed light on the telecom regulatorys role in the IT sector, future projects especially following the launch of 3G and 4G technologies in the country. He said that the country has a great potential in this field and we should tap our human resource potential to maximum level so that we could grab our due share in the world market.

In his remarks, Sayyed Paras Ali focused on developing a knowledge society as it would lead to creating a job market, innovations and entrepreneurships.

He called for review in policies on the part of official authorities in consultation with the industry representatives as well as academicians that could ultimately pave the way for setting the track of sustained development on national level.

Salman Mazhar was of the strong view that social media is the phenomena of information technology which has penetrated deeply into our routine life. He urged the young generation to apply this quick and effective medium to market their potential at both local and international level.

Shahbaz Bhatti highlighted the need for developing writing skills saying effective writing is a strong weapon to spread message as well as reach out to target audience with your products.

Babar Zahoor remarked that future is open to all especially the young generation and this is our collective responsibility to put their energies on right track, which is driven by science, information and communication technologies.

Shoaib Awan dilated upon techniques for developing an effective blog.
