STAFF REPORT LHR: The companies of Pakistans food sector can penetrate into the global food market by enhancing their level of compliance to food safety measures.

At present, the major hurdle in export of food products by the local companies is non-compliance of food safety standards required by the foreign countries.

This was stated by the participants of a Food Safety Management System award ceremony held recently in Lahore.

During the event, the TUV Austria Bureau of Inspection and Certification announced that it has awarded ISO 22000 certification to Converters, which provides packaging materials to a number of food companies.

TUV Austria has become the first choice of national as well as multinational companies in Pakistan for the 3rd party independent certification of food safety management system.

The company has so far certified numerous national food companies for ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, Halal, HACCP and ISO 9001.

The speakers said that food safety and public health are serious concerns across the world and food chain companies, by implementing Food Safety Management System, not only can remove these concerns but also enhance their trade significantly.

By the compliance of international standard of ISO 22000, companies can provide trust to their customers about their corporate capability to manage the food safety related risks.
