Prof Dr. Ikram ul Haq has granted a notable position of “Distinguished National Professor” by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to value his services and research he has done in the field of botany and biotechnology.

Prof Dr. Haq is an emeritus professor at the Government College University Lahore. He has done his Ph.D. degree as a full bright scholar from the Cornell University, New York, USA. To his credit, he has 300 publications both at national and international journals along with five books. He is the beneficiary of Sitara-i-Imtiaz and three ISESCO Science and Technology Award 2016.

Prof Dr. Hassan Amir Shah, Vice Chancellor, and senior faculty of GCU congratulated Dr. Ikram ul Haq for his appointment to such a prestigious position. He said he was the first from GCU to get this honorable and prestigious position introduced by HEC. This appointment was for the period of 2 years initially however it can be extended.

In the last three decades, he has been honored as a most productive scientist of Pakistan. He was the pioneer and of director of the Institute of Industrial Biotechnology at GCU. He also got a chance to serve as a Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology at GCU Lahore.
