STAFF REPORT LHR: To curtail forged driving licenses, Government of Punjab has taken initiative to issue Machine Readable Computerized Driving Licenses.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held in which Additional IG Punjab Traffic Police, Altaf Hussain inked agreement with President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Shafiq Ahmed Khan.
The machine readable licenses can`t be reproduced thus the menace of forged or fake licenses will be reduced in the province.
The project aim is to facilitate citizens who will be enabled to pay their printing, courier, and NADRA verification fee at NBP. The automated funds tracking system is developed by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to abet customers. A website www.dlims.punjab.gov.pk has also been launched by PITB to verify the genuineness of licenses.
