ICTs use best global practice to achieve growth

STAFF REPORT ISB: Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have already been proven as a vehicle of success for rapid progress in development sectors. The use of ICTs in education, health, agriculture and good governance has become a global best practice and a number of developing countries around Pakistan are already reaping the benefits of this latest revolution.
These views were expressed by experts including senior civil servants, faculty members of leading universities of Pakistan and community leaders coming from different districts during an “international conference on ICTs good governance in Pakistan” held in Islamabad.
They said that in order to create the required awareness in public and private sector organizations Pakistan Institute of ICTs for Development (PIID) is very seriously pursuing the cause of ICTs for development for the last few years.
In line with the global best practices an international conference has been organized by PIID in which relevant stakeholders from public and private sector organizations have participated.
Baleegh-Ur-Rehman, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training was the chief guest.
The learned speakers included Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir, Director General National Commission for Rural Development (NCRD), Husnain Mehdi, DG STI, Mudassar Hussein, Member Telecom Ministry of Telecom, and Ammar Jaffri, CE PIID, highlighted the importance of the topic and stressed the need for working together to meet the upcoming challenges and solutions under sustainable development goals.
