Investment part of solution to energy crisis: Speakers

STAFF REPORT SWABI: Speakers at the recently concluded three-day International Conference on Next Generation Energy Technologies (ICONGET) 2016 at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIK) of Engineering Sciences and Technology said that Pakistan has great potential to produce energy.


They said that the available resources should be used in a result-oriented way by the government.


Funded by Higher Education Commission, the conference was organised by GIK and South Dakota State University (SDSU). Hundreds of scholars attended the conference, including 50 PhDs from across the country. Foreign scholars also attended through Skype from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and China.


In his remarks, Director General Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies, Dr. Suhail Zaki Farooqui, said that Pakistan has made tremendous progress in energy generation as work on alternative and renewable energy has been accelerated. “The government offers fiscal and financial incentives to investors.”
