MONITORING REPORT IBD: Iran’s provincial officials have informed their Pakistani counterparts that Iran can boost electricity exports to Pakistan to help the South Asian nation overcome its persistent energy crisis.
“Private sector can play a vital role to strength trade and economic ties between the two countries,” said Mayor of Iran’s Northeastern city of Mashhad Seyed Mohammad Pezhman while addressing a delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) which has recently visited Tehran.
He further stressed the need for more frequent exchange of delegations and participation in exhibitions held in each others country from time to time.
While identifying potential areas of cooperation, he said that opportunities of cooperation existed in the areas of livestock, agriculture and mining.
He pointed out that Iran is importing livestock from Brazil, which is far away, and added the same can be imported from Pakistan.
He noted that Iran’s trade with other regional countries was higher as compared to Pakistan.
