STAFF REPORT ISB: Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (IUCPSS), an alliance of 30 Pakistani universities, and Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (I-SAPS) Pakistan have signed an agreement to promote teaching and research in local conflicts in the country.


According to the agreement, special attention would be paid on improving the state of social sciences and humanities in Pakistan by enhancing collaborative research.


It was also decided that a working group comprising academicians and researcher would be formed for promotion of teaching and research in local conflicts.


It was also agreed that IUCPSS and I-SAPS will develop five case studies on local conflicts, with one from each province.


On the occasion, IUCPSS Chairman Dr. Nasser Khan said that promotion of social sciences is vital for the socio-economic development of country and in order to address various issues being faced by Pakistani society at the grassroots level.


He appreciated the recent study conducted by I-SAPS on state of teaching and research on local conflicts at Pakistani studies. He assured the utmost cooperation of IUCPSS in follow up of the recommendations of the study.


I-SAPS Board of Trustees Secretary General Abrar Hafeez was of the view that only through joint efforts, state of social sciences could be improved in Pakistan.
