KU scientists ranked more productive

STAFF REPORT KHI: The Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST), Islamabad has ranked Prof Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, former chairman HEC, and Prof Dr Iqbal Chaudhary, Director International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, as the most productive scientists of Pakistan. Both the scientists had deep relations with the KU.
The PCST, in its sixth directory titled Productive Scientists of Pakistan 2011, ranked these two great scientists, Dr Rahman and Dr Chaudhary, the top first and second among 1,109 productive scientists of Pakistan, employed in public/private sector universities, colleges and Rand D organistions, who have contributed in research, supervision of students and any other productive work during the period 1960-2008, says a press release issued here recently.
The scoring system takes into account different factors from which the academic status and output of scientists and engineers is judged. These include research publications at national and international level, books written or edited, supervision of PhD, M.Phil or MSc students and international awards.
As per the said criteria, in the field of chemistry, Dr Rahman and Dr Chaudhary have led over 1,109 productive scientists of Pakistan.
KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser has congratulated these scientists on their great achievements.
