STAFF REPORT ISB: The imports of mobile phones into Pakistan remained up by 6.15 per cent to $282.87 million during first five months (July-Nov) of fiscal year 2014-15 as compared to the imports of $266.47 million during the same period of last year.

The data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) shows that on month basis the mobile phone imports during the month of November 2014 also increased by 19.17 per cent and decreased by 0.54pc when compared to the imports in November 2013 and October 2014 respectively.

The mobile phone imports during November stood at $58.278 million against the imports of $48.9 million in November 2013 and $58.596 million in October 2014, the data revealed. Similarly, the overall telecom imports also increased by 21.1 percent during the period under review over the same period of last year. The imports of telecom in to the country during first five months of current fiscal year were recorded at $635.709 million against the imports of $524.945 million in July-Nov 2013-14.

On month basis, the telecom imports during November 2014 increased by 15.42 per cent and 4.02 percent when compared to that of November 2013 and October 2014 respectively
