STAFF REPORT ISB: Zahid Hamid, Federal Minister for Science and Technology has distributed cheques among the winners of essay competition conducted for Quid-e-Azam Standards Award among the students of schools, colleges and universities.

The topic of the essay was “International Standards Ensure Positive Change”.

According to the results, the first prize was awarded to Rayyan Aziz Ansari, a student of National University of Science and Technology, College of EandME, Rawalpindi.

The second prize was bagged by Asma Tariq, a student of Lahore College of Women University, Lahore, and third prize was secured by Aysha Nazir, a student of Quid-e-Azam University.

Later, the minister chaired a high level meeting regarding the arrangements of the forthcoming international conference of Standard Metrology Institute of Islamic Conference (SMIIC), a center of excellence on sound mechanism for harmonization of halal standards among the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Karman Ali Qureshi, Federal Secretary, and senior officials of the ministry were present in the meeting.

Pir Bakhsh Jamali, Director General , Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) a subsidiary organization of the ministry, briefed about the arrangements of the 6th meeting of SMIIC General Assembly and 8th meeting of Board of Director and World Halal Assembly.
