NA panel announces to hold public hearing on contentious cybercrime bill next week

Staff Report ISB: The much contentious cybercrime bill that was given approval last month by the NA without of keeping in confidence the stakeholders. The bill became shady in the eyes of multiple fractions of society including civil society, and information technology professionals.


The people have severe grievances and are of the view that fundamental right of freedom of opinion will be badly butchered as a result of implementation of this cybercrime bill, therefore, necessary revisions must be done in order to ensure cyber security while keeping freedom of opinion intact.


In order to seize the flood of heavy criticism Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, Chairperson, National Assemblys Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication, had agreed to hold a public hearing on the Cyber Crime Bill on May 12, 2015.
