Staff Report LHR: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has geared up its preparations to deal with monsoon and torrential rains. NDMA governing body is arranging consultative meetings taking federal and provincial departments on board to thoroughly review the readiness and planning of any likely disaster incident with reference to the forthcoming monsoon season.


An executive meeting was organized at Lahore for same purpose which was presided by Khizar Hayat Gondal, Chief Secretary Punjab whereas Major General Asghar Nawaz, Chairman NDMA was also present at the occasion.


Jawad Akram, DG PDMA Punjab apprised the participants about the preparations of various related provincial departments for monsoon season.


Khizar Hayat Gondal lauded the efforts of the concerned departments and stressed on improvement of early warning systems for timely information dissemination and evacuation in case of any likely disaster.


Chairman NDMA also appreciated the endeavors, precautionary measures and preparedness of the department and emphasized on strengthening linkages with provincial departments for smooth coordination and quick response. The participants of the meeting included senior NDMA officials, provincial secretaries, representatives of Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) commissioners, Lahore, WAPDA, NHA, Pakistan Railway and PCIW etc.
