STAFF REPORT KHI: A young Pakistani scientist Dr. Saima Rasheed of H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry, Karachi University (KU), has attended the 64th Nobel Laureate Meeting of Physiology and Medicine, recently held in Germany.

Dr. Saima was one of the 600 selected young researchers from up to 80 countries of the world to meet and spend time with 37 Nobel laureates.

“The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting invited Dr. Saima as young scientist from Pakistan to deliver and share with them her research (poster presentation), said an official of the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), KU.

This was an excellent opportunity for the young scientist to communicate with fellow scientists across the globe and to share scientific thoughts with them, he said.

Dr. Saima has done her Ph.D. in bioorganic chemistry in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director ICCBS University of Karachi.

“During her studies she has discovered more than 200 natural and synthetic compounds that would be serve as lead against diabetes. Her 20 publications have been published in international peer review journals.” KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, former Chairman HEC Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman and Director ICCBS-KU Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary have congratulated Dr. Saima for her achievement.
