STAFF REPORT KHI: The SandT promotion is inevitable to resurrect the quelling economy of the country. A session was recently held at Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) Laboratories Complex, Karachi to highlight the importance of SandT and exchanging ideas of experts and policy makers to exchange ideas on the promotion of the very subject. The scientists, technologists of PCSIR, government officials participated in the event.
Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Fazal Abbas Maken was present on the occasion. During his speech he stressed on the need of research, innovation and commercialization in order to put result oriented efforts and connect RandD with the socio-economic development and industrial uplifting.
Director General PCSIR, Dr Kaniz Fizza Azhar gave a detailed presentation to the participants about various RandD initiatives of the research center and briefed them about ongoing and future endeavors of PCSIR.
The participants were of the view that RandD activities must not be duplicated and scientists must be well cognizant of the previous researches from other scientific research centres in order to avoid duplication. The effective communication between the research centres could account to mitigate this issue and collaborative and integrated efforts are necessary to instigate a robust SandT infrastructure and yield maximum results for sustainable growth.
