STAFF REPORT ISB: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) collaborated with International Telecom Union (ITU) to organize a training workshop for Afghan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA) and Ministry of Communication, Afghanistan. The training workshop focused on regulatory issues.


The training workshop included lectures, presentations on regulation regime from PTA as well as from representatives of telecommunication network operators i.e. Telenor, Mobilink etc. Chairman PTA, Ismail Shah was also present on the occasion. He said, “It is an honor for PTA to be selected as trainer by ITU to impart training to ATRA”. He highlighted different aspects of regulatory issues and the implementation of the practices that ensure the communication security. He also distributed certificates amongst the participants.


The Afghan delegates acknowledged the merits of the workshop and said that it would help a lot to replicate the regulatory measures so to ensure communication security and regulate the telcos in their home country. They appreciated the role of PTA in Pakistan and said that it was a role model for them and urged PTA for mentorship. The delegates said that the PTA was doing laudable steps in Pakistan for uplifting of telecommunication sector and keeping a check through regulations.


The participants from ITU, PTA, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, public and private telecommunication enterprises attended the training workshop.
