PTCL to offer cloud computing to AIOU

STAFF REPORT IBD: The PTCL has inked an agreement with the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) for providing Cloud Computing Services. Under the umbrella of Cloud Computing Services, PTCL shall be offering the Web Space, Email, Unified Collaboration Services bundled with EVO access for the Students, Teachers and Management of AIOU.
According to details, the service shall benefit more than 1.3 million students of AIOU, enrolled in various courses from across Pakistan. AIOU enrolls more than 700,000 students every six months and an equal number passes out each semester.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Nazir A Sangi, VC AIOU, and Samer Ajjawi, Advisory Team Member Business Development Etisalat.
The service is geared towards filling the void in this underserved segment, and shall provide increased educational opportunities in Pakistan.?
In his remarks, Samer Ajjawi said, ?This collaboration shall enable and contribute towards serving the AIOU initiatives for Online Educational needs of students across Pakistan and PTCL remains committed to provide technological support for the current and future ICT needs of AIOU?.
Dr. Sangi acknowledged the PTCL efforts in joining hands with AIOU for dissemination of quality education in Pakistan through remote learning initiatives and said that there is a dire need to adopt modern technologies for facilitating the students as well as the faculty.
