The Punjab government is revamping the agriculture sector to bang its potential and bring about prosperity among farmers and in the province at large stated Punjab Agriculture Secretary Muhammad Mahmood.

He said that the Punjab government was developing the sector on modern lines to enhance crop productivity, he added.

He further said that ‘promotion of high-value agriculture’ project by establishing climate smart technology to improve and develop agriculture sector.

He said that during 2017-18 government had allocated Rs 20 billion for agriculture sector. He said that for enhancing per acre yield modern technology was promoted for development of agriculture. He said farmers have a direct impact on agricultural economy so Punjab government was protecting the interests of farmers.

He said that the government had given relief in the budget to farmers on subsidy on electricity for agri-tub wells and fertilizers.

Muhammad Mehmood said that poverty can be alleviated from province by modern solar-based agro system and revolutionary steps.

The agriculture secretary further said that there has been a remarkable improvement in the sector and small farmers have also become prosperous only due to positive steps of the government.
