Reliance on traditional sources cause of energy crisis

STAFF REPORT ISB: A two-day workshop on “Power electronics with renewable integration” has recently concluded at the Faisal Mosque campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
Speakers at the workshop included Prof Nauman Ahmed Zaffar from LUMS and Dr Raza Kazmi from NUST.
The speakers discussed topics such as basic circuit theory and magnates, semi-conductor switches and power electronic convertor topologies.
IIUI Department of Electronics Engineering (DEE) Chairman Dr Muhammad Amir said, on the occasion, Pakistan despite being rich in renewable energy sources was facing energy crisis due to its reliance on traditional energy sources, said a press release.
Dr Amir appreciated the efforts of the workshop secretary Engr Tila Muhammad and other staff members on arranging the workshop.
The participants were of the view that modern systems were getting more efficient and new generation (especially students) could take benefit from these advancements by helping reduce in-system losses.
“We are being provided with an excellent opportunity to broaden our exposure regarding the advancements in the field of electronic engineering and we are thankful to IIUI and HEC for providing us with this opportunity” said Usman, a student of NUST.
The workshop was attended by students from NUST, Bahria University, FAST, University of Engineering and Technology as well as experts from PAEC, SNGPL and NDC.
