STAFF REPORT ISB: A meeting of Central Development Working Party (CDWP) was recently held which was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal.


Various development projects were approved in the meeting. The major deliberation for SandT promotion was compacted in the meeting as Vision 2025 Science Talent Farming Scheme (STFS) was approved by the CDWP. The programme is expected to benefit 1800 students. The projected cost of the project is Rs.1.395 billion.


The minister extoled the project, and said that it would help identify science talent at school level as well as bringing the science talent at par by offering Ph.D. scholarships to build a pool of skilled scientists for the country.


The minister directed the competent authorities that a an objective based residential Science College “National Science College (NSC) for scholars selected under the scheme on the pattern of cadet colleges should be included in the scheme to ensure nurturing of aspiring scientists in a favorable ambience.
