STAFF REPORT FSD: Speakers at a seminar said that Pakistan can generate huge revenue by tapping the international markets through information technology thereby alleviating poverty and raising living standard of the people.


“The world had become global village because of technological advancement,” said UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad while chairing the inaugural session of a seminar titled emerging technologies and trends in computer sciences in Faisalabad.


The seminar was arranged by the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad.


He said that a software house would be established at the campus. He added that the number of cell phone users in the country had gone very high that is an opportunity to spreading modern agri information among the farming community.


The VC further said that IT has greatly helped in good governance and to raise the living standard of the masses.


Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr Muhammad Javed said that the IT facilitates students as the knowledge ranging from science to arts was on just a click away.


He said that there is lot of talent in Pakistan that needs to be explored. He said that IT had made the office work so easy and transparent.


He stressed the students to put their full attention on studies so that they would not only prove themselves in the field but also bring good name for the country.
