GITEX-Shopper_optSTAFF REPORT KHI: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has failed to provide any assistance to more than 10 Pakistani IT companies for taking part in the 2012 GITEX technology week, held in Dubai October last.

Any of Pakistani IT companies could not participate in GITEX Technology Week despite the fact that in last October 9 Pakistani companies had successfully participated in the event and TDAP termed it a successful participation. The country lost millions of dollars in shape of foreign exchange earnings due to the apathetic attitude of TDAP, said representatives of the IT companies.

“In October 2012 TDAP and Ministry of IT did not support any of Pakistani company and they have lost the profitable opportunities because GITEX is business gateway of the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region,” said Zohaib Khan member of sub-committee for IT of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

He said that their major issue is that they had no access to international market and it cannot be possible without help of TDAP.

IT companies in Pakistan are doing great job despite the fact of there is no such support from any of the related government institution, he added.

Zohaib urged the government to take necessary steps and give prudent directions to TDAP for promoting IT sector because it has potential to bring huge foreign exchange in Pakistan.
