STAFF REPORT LHR: The need to categorically focus on technological interventions to boost agricultural yields was emphasized at All Pakistan Science Conference on Food Security and Security Challenges in Pakistan. The two day event was organized by Pakistan Association for Advancement of Science (PAAS) and Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR).


Various experts from food technology sector suggested the improved research and finding new methods for bolstering the agricultural yield in order to maximize the potential of agriculture and food sector in Pakistan. Expanding cultivated land, healthy seeds and educating the farmers were one of the key suggestions rolled out by the experts. In addition, application of bio-technology tools and innovative techniques was highly recommended by the speakers.


PCSIR was urged to strengthen their role on agricultural research and provide solutions to industrial challenges by visiting far flung areas and identifying the problems that needed attention on priority basis.


General President PAAS and Prof Dr Saleem Chaudhary during his address on the occasion said that policy and strategic measures are important that may abet the agricultural challenges and improve the overall infrastructure by proper regulations.
