STAFF REPORT ISB: Pakistans telecom sector contributed Rs951.59 billion to national exchequer during the last seven years.

The sector was contributing an average of Rs124.8 billion annually to the national exchequer in terms of taxes, regulatory fees, initial and annual license fees, activation tax, and other charges during last three years but in fiscal year 2014,it contributed an all-time high Rs243.8 billion, registering a growth of 95.8 percent over the last year.

A latest statistics issued by PTA, revealed that during 2007-08, the sector contributed Rs111.63 billion, in 2008-09 Rs112 billion, in 2009-10 Rs109.05 billion, in 2010-11 Rs116.97 billion, in 2011-12 Rs133.41 billion and in 2012-13 the contribution to national kitty was Rs124.73 billion.

As per details, PTA has deposited to the government Rs96.5 billion out of total value of $1.11 billion of the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) spectrum auction and the remaining amount of $147.5 million along with markup @ LIBOR+3 per cent per annum will be paid by the operators in equal annual installments in next five years.
