Treatment of Rawal lake water found unfit for human consumption

The untreated water tests from Rawal lake by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and investigated at National Water Quality Laboratory (NWQL) were observed to be unfit for human utilization because of the nearness of risky microscopic organisms distinguished in the samples.

Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), an innovative work association working under the aegis of Ministry of Science and Technology, gathered water tests from Rawal lake amid the emergency raised by angle mortality there and examined those samples in the NWQL.

Water in Rawal lake after tests was discovered unfit for human utilization as a result of turbidity and bacterial tainting. However, water test gone up against the date after treatment by Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), was dissected at NWQL, and discovered fit for human utilization, an official of PCRWR informed reporters.

PCRWR spokesperson said that water contamination had always been an issue in the area, that’s why before distribution water diverted for human utility was treated. The spokesperson said that solid waste, germs, bacteria, and micro bacterial contamination detected in lake water.

Water purification plants were installed for removing all impurities and swaying it to fit for utilization, before being distributed to city, the spokesperson added.

However, PCRWAR official said that people need education regarding throwing solid waste in streams while including that the water ought to be dealt with before giving it a chance to go into the lake. She said that endeavors were in progress to clean the Rawal lake for the amphibian life flourishing there and securing the soundness of individuals from adjacent groups who utilized the untreated water for day by day family household practices.
